As Kristi said, the only safe active ingredient is zinc oxide. The chemicals are drugs that work on your body as well as on the ocean life. Any chemical active ingredients are not safe for the life of the reef or for you. The chemicals that are banned are only the top 2 that were used, but their replacements are just as bad. You’ll see signs all over Maui saying NO spray sunscreen. If you must use a spray, please do so only in your shower. When you shower, those chemicals end up eventually in the ocean.
